Why Private Practitioners Should Consider Joining an Entrepreneur Group

Are you feeling stuck as a private practitioner, don’t know what steps to take next, or looking for community?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you’re ready for an entrepreneur group.

Here are three reasons why joining an entrepreneur group can take your practice to the next level.

1. Groups create a sense of community

When you’re in private practice, it can get lonely.

Your friends and family may not understand the stress of running a practice.

Having a community that you can turn to can give you comfort and people to vent to that just get it.

2. Opportunities to learn from your peers

An entrepreneur group gives you the opportunity to learn from other providers that may or may not be like you.

In my entrepreneur group, there’s a Salesforce headhunter, an online marketer, and a professional photographer.

From this diverse group, I’ve learned how to run my practice from a completely different perspective. I’m really inspired by the amazing things they do that I would have never imagined without their expertise.

3. Be held accountable

I love accountability because it’s what’s helped me build a sustainable practice for 12+ years. As a dietitian, we do it every day with our clients, so why aren’t we doing this with ourselves?

To be accountable, you have to have objectives. Think about what you would like to accomplish by the end of this year. Break down those yearly, quarterly and monthly goals.

Once you’ve decided on your goals, lean on your entrepreneur group to keep you accountable. For example, if you want to grow your practice, you may tell everyone in your group that your goal is to market to new providers this month. As the month goes by, you’ll notice your entrepreneur meeting getting closer everyday, and this may be the push you need to accomplish your goal.

How to find an entrepreneur group near you

So now that you’re ready to join an entrepreneur group, where do you actually find one? Google is a great start, but there are a lot of different places to look. You can turn to your local:

For me, it was important to find a group that meets in-person or via video conference. By having this face-to-face interaction, you can connect so much more. Don’t hesitate to jump all in—the more you put in, the more you’ll get out of it.
