SimplePractice Announces SimplePractice Learning to Improve Continuing Education for Mental Health Professionals
Continuing education advocate Dr. Ben Caldwell to lead efforts as Education Director
LOS ANGELES – February 26, 2019 – SimplePractice, the industry leader of Practice Management solutions for health and wellness professionals, announced the launch of SimplePractice Learning, a new continuing education marketplace. The program is designed to deliver high-quality continuing education (CE), to create a trusted source where course material is easy to find and to offer those courses at a fair price. The need for a quality CE marketplace addresses the long and complicated process previously available to clinicians seeking CEs. SimplePractice Learning courses will be relevant and timely, with topics that those seeking CE are already interested in learning.
As part of the new initiative, SimplePractice named Dr. Ben Caldwell as Education Director for SimplePractice Learning. Caldwell’s advocacy efforts in the field are wide-ranging. In his role as Chair of the Legislative and Advocacy Committee for the California Division of AAMFT, he helped write language for California’s first-in-the-nation ban on reparative therapy for minors. Caldwell also led the AAMFT task force that developed Best Practices in the Online Practice of Couple and Family Therapy.
“SimplePractice Learning has a bold, transformational vision for making continuing education better. As someone who has spent my career educating therapists and fighting to make our training process better, I’m proud to be part of it,” said Caldwell. “We’re bringing unique and intelligent content to this space: We already have courses such as Social Media Ethics, Emotional Support Animals, and Secrets and Lies: The Ethics of Truth in Therapy. Just as importantly, we want to bring presenters who have unique knowledge and strong presentation skills to our large audience. In other words, we want to make it much easier to connect great education with the people who need it.”
“I believe it is important to reframe our relationship to what continuing education should be,” said Howard Spector, CEO and Co-Founder of SimplePractice. “One of the challenges clinicians face is the need to sort through thousands of courses to find the few that can really have an impact. The mission of SimplePractice Learning is to remove that obstacle through reviewed and selected content, making it easier to find the best material at reasonable prices, with an enduring belief in quality over quantity. I see this as a great opportunity to revolutionize the way clinicians think about and take CEs.”
To accompany its launch, SimplePractice Learning offers two of its initial courses, covering social media ethics and documentation, free of charge.
